She was Straw Plaiter in 1851 at Steeple Morden, Cambridgeshire, England, .2 She married Charles Deller, son of William Deller and Mary Ann Course, on 13 February 1854 at Barrington, Cambridgeshire, England, .3,4 Susan and her husband Charles arrived in Geelong on board S.S. Maria Hay on July 23, 1854. With them was their infant son Charles as well as Arthur Deller (Charles' brother) with his wife Sophia (Susan's sister). Also on board were James Deller (another of Charles' brothers) and his wife Mary as well as Susan & Sophia's brother Samuel Christmas.
