Mary Ann and her husband James arrived in Geelong on board S.S. Maria Hay on July 23, 1854 together with their 3 year old daughter Ellen. Their infant daughter Jessie died during the trip.
Accompanying them were brothers Charles & Arthur Deller with their respective wives Susan & Sophia (sisters nee Christmas) and Charles' infant son Charles. Also aboard the Maria Hay was Samuel Christmas, brother of Susan & Sophia.
